Associate Executive Housekeeper

The Opportunity

The Housekeeping and Custodial Department of the Banff Centre is looking for an Associate Executive Housekeeper to assist the Executive Housekeeper in achieving all Housekeeping and Custodial objectives. This includes ensuring daily functions are completed, customer satisfaction is maintained, and cleanliness, inventory control, and budget goals are met. The Associate Executive Housekeeper is a positive and encouraging motivator, responsible for managing and training Housekeeping and Custodial Supervisors and staff. The ideal candidate is a clear communicator with proven leadership skills.

Specific Accountabilities
  1. Plan, organize, and oversee the duties of Housekeeping and Custodial departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  2. Assist with hiring, training, and managing employee performance.
  3. Comply with all aspects of the collective agreement and collaborate with Human Resources as needed.
  4. Manage payroll, time tracking, and scheduling to ensure coverage and budget adherence.
  5. Conduct and participate in department meetings to ensure team understanding of objectives and duties.
  6. Respond to guest needs sensitively, following established service standards.
  7. Work with occupancy forecasts to assist in staffing planning.
  8. Prepare daily work sheets, assign shifts, and oversee housekeeping floaters.
  9. Order supplies and manage inventory for linens, cleaning supplies, amenities, and equipment.
  10. Coordinate with Guest Services, Conference Services, and Program Delivery staff on daily tasks, reports, and special requests.
  11. Manage Lost and Found inventory.
  12. Act on behalf of the Executive Housekeeper in their absence.
  13. Ensure a safe and positive work environment aligned with Banff Centre policies.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
  1. Secondary school completion.
  2. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  3. Physical ability to lift and carry up to fifty pounds.
  4. Supervisory experience with large teams and positive employee relations.
  5. At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role with knowledge of housekeeping operations.
  6. Understanding of budgeting and cost control.
  7. Knowledge of Property Management System (PMS) software is an asset.
  8. WHMIS Certification.
Employment Terms & Benefits
  • This is a permanent, full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period, governed by management/PSP employment terms.
  • Salary range: $51,731 to $73,983, based on experience.
  • Benefits include twenty paid vacation days, four personal days, extended medical and dental, and a pension plan.
