Job Description

The Associate Director, Senior Project Manager in Strategy and Portfolio Management (SPM) will oversee the execution of large and complex strategic change and regulatory initiatives within Capital Markets (CM) & Quantitative & Technology Services (QTS). The role involves planning, directing, and coordinating activities across cross-functional business and technology teams within and outside Capital Markets to ensure program goals are achieved within the approved timeframe, scope, and budget. A solid understanding of Capital Markets & QTS Strategy is essential to align program deliverables with the overall vision.

What will you do?

  • Support the Program Lead in the day-to-day execution and management of cross-asset strategic and regulatory initiatives with multiple work streams throughout the full project lifecycle (initiation, definition, financials, resourcing, implementation, delivery, enhancement, maintenance).
  • Collaborate with Global Business and Technology Owners to ensure initiatives successfully deliver desired business outcomes and create value.
  • Establish appropriate governance and oversight for assigned initiatives.
  • Develop integrated baseline project plans using estimation models; refine and track plans, coordinate inter-work stream dependencies; manage performance against delivery plans.
  • Identify and track issues and conflicts, remove barriers, resolve project issues, and escalate to the manager when necessary.
  • Manage program communications, including status reports to executives, stakeholders, business units, vendors, and project teams.
  • Provide support and oversight for project and program delivery assurance and lead IT interactions with RBC internal audit.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Minimum of 5 years of Project Management experience.
  • At least 3 years of PM experience in Capital Markets (IT or business), handling cross-asset large-scale ($5M+) strategic change and regulatory initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of SDLC and at least 2 years of experience with Agile methodologies and tools (JIRA, Confluence, Rally Central).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; strong structured, analytical, and methodological thinking.
  • Ability to multitask across competing priorities.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with consulting firms, especially “Big Four”.
  • Domain expertise in asset classes like Rates, Credit, Equities, and functional areas such as Front Office, Operations, Product Control, Market and Credit Risk.
  • PMP and/or PgMP certification.
