WISE Trust was established to give the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and the Ontario Compensation Employees’ Union (OCEU) an equal voice in the administration of the pension plan through a jointly sponsored pension plan. WISE Trust governed by a Board of Trustees, four appointed by the WSIB and four appointed by OCEU.

This executive role offers a unique opportunity to drive operational excellence, strengthen trust with our stakeholders, and enhance the long-term sustainability and visibility of our defined benefit pension plan. As Vice President, Pension Strategy & Innovation, you’ll lead strategic delivery, innovation, and oversight, with a focus on optimizing plan design and elevating the member and employer experience.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead strategic direction across pension administration, member and employer engagement, actuarial oversight, and policy governance.
  • Oversee internal teams and third-party administrators to ensure service excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with actuarial and finance teams to guide plan design, funding strategy, and long-term sustainability.
  • Champion innovation to drive member and employer engagement strategies that prioritize education, trust, and accessibility.
  • Lead strategic planning and preparation for the Plan Administration Committee and participate in Trustee and related governance meetings as required.
  • Build cross-functional alignment, influence senior leaders, and foster meaningful partnerships to advance plan priorities.
  • Promote a growth mindset to increase Plan visibility, brand recognition, and adoption.
  • Model and reinforce organizational values, embedding empathy, respect, and trust in leadership, culture, and collaboration.


What You Bring:

  • University degree in a relevant field such as business administration, commerce, mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in defined benefit pension plan administration, pension policy, operations management, pension consulting, and/or actuarial consulting.
  • Deep knowledge of pension plan governance, administration, design, funding, and policy, with proven experience interpreting and applying relevant provincial and federal legislation including but not limited to the Income Tax Act, Ontario Pension Benefits Act, Family Law Act, and other legislation and guidelines related to pension plans.
  • Familiarity with actuarial principles, pension funding methodologies, and experience working with or overseeing actuarial service providers.
  • Executive communication, change leadership, and collaboration skills with a proven ability to drive innovation across teams and functions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and pension administration platforms with the ability to leverage tools for strategic analysis, reporting, and executive decision making.
  • Designations such as PPAC, CEBS, ACIA/FCIA are considered strong assets


Employment Type: This is a full-time, permanent position. While we are a remote organization, this role will involve in-person attendance as required and only applicants who have reliable transportation to Toronto, Ontario will be considered at this time.
