Job summary

RBC in Toronto is seeking an seasoned operational resilience and BCM professional to drive the enterprise resilience agenda within Group Risk Management. You will collaborate with 1LOD teams and business units to design and govern strategic programs across platforms.

The role requires 10–12 years in resilience, strong regulatory knowledge, and proven ability to translate benchmarks into actionable roadmaps.

Qualifications

  • 10-12 years of experience in Operational Resilience, BCM, or NFR within large financial institutions.
  • Experience designing enterprise-wide resilience frameworks and transformation programs.
  • Strong knowledge of global BCM, Operational Resilience, disaster recovery, and incident management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with senior management.
  • Ability to track metrics, measure maturity, and report strategic outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Support development and execution of the multi-year resilience and BCM program roadmap.
  • Help establish governance structures, milestones, and maturity models.
  • Track progress and report maturity across platforms and units.
  • Research industry best practices and translate benchmarks into strategy.
  • Collaborate with platforms and teams to support strategy execution.

Job Description

The Enterprise Chief Controls Office (ECCO) is a centralized first line of defense group (1LOD) with the goal of embedding a culture of risk ownership and operational excellence by elevating the control environment and driving consistency and quality of risk practices to minimize loss and regulatory sanction, drive cost efficiencies, and accelerate execution to enable growth. The Operational Resilience and Business Continuity Management (BCM) team provide leadership in designing and implementing strategic vision, long-term operational model, roadmap and program governance across our platforms in the 1LOD. Working in partnership with platform and business unit Operational Resilience, BCM and Incident Management teams, this central team drives an enterprise-wide strategy to strengthen first line capabilities by driving consistent risk and control practices, embedding resilience into the way we lead, operate and respond to disruption while enabling critical business outcomes. The team is integral in evolving the operating model, governance, and relationship to other resilience risk areas, serving as a single first-line voice to unify, standardize and elevate Resilience capabilities in alignment with ECCO's mandate to embed risk ownership and operational excellence across the organization.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  • Support development and execution of the multi-year operational resilience and BCM strategic program roadmap across enterprise platforms
  • Assist in establishing program governance structures, milestones, and maturity models aligned with regulatory and business objectives
  • Track and report on program progress and maturity progression across assigned platforms and business units
  • Research and evaluate emerging industry best practices in operational resilience and BCM
  • Support participation in industry platforms and professional organizations to inform program enhancements
  • Collaborate with platforms, business functions, and Operational Resilience & BCM teams to support strategic program execution and stakeholder alignment
  • Support communication of resilience strategy, maturity progression, and program outcomes to senior management and key stakeholders
  • Identify and recommend strategic adjustments to address emerging operational risks and evolving business priorities
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Must have:
  • 10-12 years of experience in Operational Resilience, Business Continuity Management, or Non-Financial Risk within large, complex financial institutions, with demonstrated experience supporting transformation and strategic uplift initiatives
  • Proven capability in designing and implementing enterprise-wide resilience and BCM frameworks, including strategic roadmaps, maturity models, and transformation programs
  • Demonstrated experience researching and evaluating industry best practices and translating external benchmarks into organizational strategy
  • Strong understanding of global regulatory requirements related to BCM, Operational Resilience, disaster recovery, and incident management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate strategic concepts to senior management and cross-functional partners
  • Strong analytical skills with experience tracking metrics, measuring maturity progression, and reporting on strategic program outcomes
Nice-to-have
  • MBA, FRM, CFA, CBCI, DRI International
  • Experience establishing enterprise monitoring, reporting, and metrics frameworks for BCM outcomes and compliance
  • Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional and cross-platform teams on BCM initiatives
  • Familiarity with BCM tools, platforms, and technology solutions that enhance execution and reporting
