Job summary

LOFT Community Services in Toronto, ON is seeking an Associate Director, Facilities to lead the Facilities Management portfolio across multiple sites, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient environments.

You will provide strategic oversight of infrastructure renewal, preventative maintenance, vendor governance, and budget management, while guiding multi-site teams and collaborating with senior leaders, funders, and community partners.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of facilities management experience with leadership of multi-site operations.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance operations, health & safety, budgeting, and project management.
  • Knowledge of Ontario legislation including Landlord & Tenant, Occupational Health & Safety, Employment Standards, and WSIB.
  • Experience leading diverse teams with a commitment to DEI and inclusive practices.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director, Facilities Management & Tenant Relations, Associate Director, Facilities is a senior leader within LOFT Community Services’ Facilities Management department. The role will oversee and coordinate the successful operations of all facilities management-related functions. The Associate Director of Facilities will provide input regarding ongoing future planning and appropriate management of all LOFT properties, in accordance with the internal operating philosophy and practices, as well as the requirements of regulatory agencies. The Associate Director, Facilities supports the strategic oversight of facility operations, infrastructure renewal, environmental services, and maintenance programs across the organization to ensure safe, compliant, efficient, and clients-focused environments aligned with organizational priorities. The role provides leadership to operations teams in the development and implementation of facility standards, preventative maintenance programs, operational procedures, compliance frameworks, vendor and contractor management, and budget oversight, while supporting continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, staff development, and efficient management of organizational resources.


What You Will Do

Strategic Leadership


  • Lead facilities operations, asset management, infrastructure renewal, and sustainability initiatives across the portfolio.

  • Assist in capital planning, implementation of capital projects, and lease management and negotiations.

  • Develop and implement facilities standards, operational frameworks, and preventative maintenance strategies.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, health and safety, and organizational requirements.

  • Collaborate with senior leaders, funders, and community partners to support integrated service delivery and organizational priorities.

  • Oversee vendor, contractor, and procurement governance to ensure quality, accountability, and value optimization.


People Leadership


  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to Operations Managers and facilities teams.

  • Foster a high-performing, inclusive, and collaborative culture focused on accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.

  • Support workforce planning, succession planning, staff development, and performance management.

  • Promote strong stakeholder relationships and effective communication with tenants, staff, contractors, and community partners.


Innovation & Continuous Improvement


  • Drive operational efficiency, sustainability, risk management, and service quality improvements.

  • Leverage data, performance metrics, audits, and maintenance systems to support informed decision-making.

  • Lead the development and implementation of policies, procedures, emergency protocols, and best-practice facility standards.

  • Identify opportunities to improve space utilization, operational performance, and organizational value.


Financial & Resource Management


  • Oversee operating budgets, capital expenditures, resource allocation, and long-term financial planning.

  • Manage procurement processes, contracts, and vendor performance to ensure compliance and cost-effectiveness.

  • Ensure accurate operational, financial, maintenance, and compliance reporting.

  • Support emergency preparedness, after-hours response, operational continuity, and tenant safety across all facilities.

What You Bring


  • Postsecondary education in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 7+ years of experience in facilities management experience with leadership of multi-site operations.

  • Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance operations, health & safety, budgeting, and project management.

  • Solid understanding of Ontario legislation, including Landlord & Tenant, Occupational Health & Safety, Employment Standards, and WSIB.

  • Experience leading diverse teams with a strong commitment to DEI, anti-racism, and inclusive practices.

  • Expertise in managing multi-site, multi-storey facilities and core building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, security, and life-safety).

  • Knowledge of applicable building, fire, occupancy, and regulatory standards.

  • Strong leadership, financial management, vendor/contractor oversight, and stakeholder relationship skills.

  • Excellent project management, problem-solving, communication, and organizational abilities.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities, respond to urgent situations, and deliver accurate operational and compliance reporting.

  • Understanding of the needs of vulnerable populations, including individuals experiencing mental health, housing, and social challenges.

  • Valid Driver’s License required.


Work Environment


  • May be required to be on call as emergency contact after business hours.

  • Combination of walking and sitting for a long period of time.

  • Ability to use office equipment and computers.

  • May have to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

  • Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
