Scotiabank is modernizing its development practices and tools, focusing on cloud technology to streamline processes and support global development teams. We are expanding our Cloud Platform Engineering team and seeking an Associate Cloud Engineer responsible for creating platform components and services for enterprise-wide use.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and maintain cloud platforms, services, and components ensuring enterprise-wide functionality and security.
  2. Provide Level 3 support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
  3. Design, implement, and refactor code; participate in design discussions focusing on scalability and best practices.
  4. Ensure high availability, integrity, and reliability of software and applications.
  5. Collaborate with engineers and architects on project scoping and estimation.
  6. Participate in planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups.
  7. Build and operate scalable, highly available software and infrastructure.
  8. Support application teams by providing guidance on design patterns, security, and best practices.
  9. Engage in peer reviews and quality control activities regularly.
Desired Skills and Experience
  1. Passion for cloud transformation and platform development.
  2. Strong development experience with languages such as HCL, Go, Rego.
  3. Experience with Terraform and module development.
  4. Knowledge of SDLC and related technologies.
  5. Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) is advantageous.
  6. Proficiency with config management tools and scripting languages (Ansible, Bash, Groovy).
  7. Understanding of infrastructure, networking, and security considerations.
  8. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently under supervision.
  9. Familiarity with software design patterns, infrastructure architecture, DevOps, and release processes.
  10. Desire to learn and grow professionally.
  11. Ability to document processes and troubleshoot system issues.
  12. Experience in the Canadian financial sector, Kubernetes, or containerized applications is a plus.
  13. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or mathematics or higher.
