The aim is to provide a streamlined process and framework which will allow the development teams to focus on building business logic. The platform is used by development teams globally to host hundreds of applications. We are building our development team with influencers, makers, creators, and industry leaders who will drive us forward. The role of the Associate Cloud Engineer operates within the Cloud Platform Engineering team. This valuable member of the team will be responsible for creating platform components and services for broad enterprise use.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
  1. Develop and maintain cloud platforms, services, and components to enable safe enterprise-wide use of cloud common functionality.
  2. Provide Level 3 support responsibilities.
  3. Design, implement, and refactor code.
  4. Participate in design discussions focused on scalability and best practices.
  5. Ensure software, programs, and applications meet high availability, integrity, and reliability requirements.
  6. Work with other engineers and architects on breaking down, scoping, and estimating tasks.
  7. Participate in planning and retrospective sessions, attending stand-ups, etc.
  8. Build and operate highly available and scalable software and infrastructure.
  9. Support application teams on the use of the platform including providing guidance on design patterns, best practices, and security considerations.
  10. Provide peer review and quality control on a daily basis.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
  1. Enthusiasm for cloud transformation and cloud platform/components/services development.
  2. Strong development experience and breadth of language experience (e.g., Hashicorp DSL (HCL), Go, Rego).
  3. Experience with Terraform and module development.
  4. Understanding of the software development life cycle as well as related technologies.
  5. Experience in cloud platform features and capabilities (Azure, GCP) is an asset.
  6. Experience with configuration management tools and scripting languages (Ansible, Bash, Groovy).
  7. Understanding of infrastructure and networking is a benefit.
  8. Self-sufficient, works under the supervision of a more senior engineer.
  9. Knowledgeable in software design patterns, infrastructure architecture, DevOps, or security considerations is an asset.
  10. Understanding of the software release process (environments, binary repositories, CI/CD).
  11. Desire to learn and grow yourself and your team.
  12. Writing and maintaining related documentation.
  13. Investigating, analyzing, and resolving system problems.
  14. Experience within Canadian financial institutions is a benefit.
  15. Experience with Kubernetes or containerized applications is a benefit.
  16. Bachelor's degree (equivalent or higher) in computer science or engineering/mathematics discipline.
