Introduction

In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your Role And Responsibilities

The IBM Client Innovation Centre (CIC) occupies a unique position in the IT marketplace – at the intersection of business and technology. In this role, you'll work in our IBM CIC, delivering deep technical and industry expertise globally. Our delivery centers provide locally based skills to help clients innovate and adopt new technologies.

As an Associate Java/Web Developer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, test, and deploy software applications using Java.
  • Implement and configure ArcGIS and ETRM tools to support business processes.
  • Collaborate with analysts and stakeholders to understand requirements and develop scalable solutions.
  • Participate in the full SDLC, from conceptualization to maintenance.
  • Ensure application performance, quality, and responsiveness; fix bugs and bottlenecks.
  • Maintain code quality, organization, and automation; contribute to process improvements.
Required Qualifications

Technical and Professional Expertise:

  • Eligibility to work in Canada without future visa sponsorship (valid work permit, permanent residency, or citizenship).
  • Willingness to live and work in Calgary, AB.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, industrial fields (oil & gas, mining), software engineering, or related areas.

Core Competencies:

  • Proficient in Java and ecosystems like Spring, Hibernate.
  • Experience with industrial software applications such as ArcGIS for Server.
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS JavaScript API.
  • Understanding of ETRM systems is preferred.

Additional Skills:

  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn emerging tools and technologies.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in oil & gas, mining, and industrial applications.
