Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Canada’s Ontario region is seeking an Assisted Living Supervisor to support the health and wellness program across a retirement residence. You will lead the nursing staff, coordinate across departments, and ensure regulatory compliance while maintaining high-quality resident care.

You will report to the Manager of Health and Wellness, collaborate with a house physician, manage budgets for the Nursing Department, and oversee staff performance and care records.

Qualifications

• Currently registered as a Registered Practical Nurse, Registered Psychiatric Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse from the applicable provincial regulatory body.
• Minimum of three (3) years relevant clinical experience.
• Experience with developing service plans for quality care to residents.
• Up to date knowledge of regulations, acts, program standards, and provincial legislation.
• Must provide a Vulnerable Sector Check within the last six months or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, coordinates and supervises the assisted living nursing program for residents.
• Coordinates and promotes the interdisciplinary approach within the residence through Nursing, Food Services, Activation, Environmental Service and Administrative Departments.
• Implements and monitors controls and safekeeping of drugs and narcotics; supervises the drug administration program.
• Directs and monitors health care records to ensure compliance with regulations and quality care.
• Participates in Care Conferences and meets with residents' families to resolve concerns.
• Collaborates with House Physician to ensure medical records comply with regulations.
• Hires, orients, schedules, supervises and evaluates nursing staff.
• Monitors staff compliance with residence policies and safety practices.
• Complies with Acts and Regulations (Health Disciplines Act, Human Rights Code, etc.).
• Assists with budget preparation for the Nursing Department.
• Investigates complaints.
• Coordinates and monitors Infection Control Program for the Nursing Department.
• Assumes administrative duties in Executive Director's absence.

$64,000 - $66,000/annually

Key Responsibilities

Assists the Manager of Health and Wellness with the following:

• Plans, directs, co-ordinates and supervises the assisted living nursing program for residents within the residence.
• Co-ordinates and promotes the interdisciplinary approach within the residence through the Nursing, Food Services, Activation, Environmental Service and Administrative Departments.
• Implements and monitors controls and safekeeping of drugs and narcotics. Supervises the drug administration program including the administration of medication by all staff.
• Directs and monitors the maintenance of health care records to ensure promote compliance with regulations and quality care for the resident.
• Participates in Care Conferences as required, meets with residents' family to resolve problems/ concerns/complaints.
• Assists the Executive Director by collaborating with the House Physician to ensure that medical attention and records are in compliance with regulations.
• Hires, orients, schedules, supervise and evaluate the performance of nursing personnel. This includes use of the disciplinary process in conjunction with Executive Director.
• Monitors and reviews resident care staff compliance with all residence policies and procedures, including safety rules and safe working practices.
• Complies with all relevant Provincial and Federal Acts and Regulations, i.e. Health Disciplines Act, Human Rights Code, Labour Relations Act, WSIB, College of Nurses Standards, Regulated Health Profession Act., etc.
• Assists the Executive Director with budget preparation and implementation for the Nursing Department.
• Investigates complaints.
• Co-ordinates and monitors the Infection Control Program for the Nursing Department.
• Assumes administrative duties as required in the Executive Director's absence.

Required Education, Credentials And Experience

• Currently registered as a Registered Practical Nurse, Registered Psychiatric Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse from the applicable provincial professional regulatory body with competency to perform skills withing their scope of practice;
• Minimum of three (3) years relevant clinical experience, preferably in a retirement residence;
• Experience with developing service plans for the best quality of care to our residents;
• Up to date of knowledge of regulations, acts, program standards, and other pertinent provincial legislation;
• Must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) within the last six months or be willing to obtain one.
