POSITION OVERVIEW

As Assistant Vice-President (AVP), Real Estate & Facilities Management, you will lead the strategy and planning for space, sustainability, facilities management & physical security. You will develop, implement and evaluate long-term plans in the areas of real estate, capital projects and facilities management to support the Bank’s space plan and overall business plans.

This role involves innovating and rethinking space use, creating an agile working environment and facilities in partnership with senior leadership. You will focus on optimizing BDC’s real estate portfolio, aligning workplace strategy with organizational priorities, and developing comprehensive plans to support the organization’s future needs. You will oversee research and evaluation of real estate opportunities, ensure ESG goals are met, and manage facilities at numerous locations with a focus on sustainability, safety, and security. The role reports directly to the CFO.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Developing long-term workplace strategies aligned with corporate culture and aspirations.
  • Managing real estate projects, negotiations, and stakeholder expectations effectively.
  • Aligning real estate initiatives with ESG responsibilities, including LEED certification.
  • Overseeing security and emergency management to ensure safety and business continuity.
  • Managing contracts and budgets related to facilities and real estate.
  • Leading a multidisciplinary team, managing internal and external resources, and maintaining relationships with senior management.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10-15 years of experience in commercial real estate, project management, procurement, with knowledge of technical, financial, leasing, and workplace strategies.
  • Experience in developing real estate strategies, managing complex projects, and understanding legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Leadership skills, analytical and negotiation skills, and bilingual in French and English.
  • LEED, PMP, or professional accreditation is an asset.
