The Opportunity!

As the Vice President, Employee Benefits you are responsible for growing and managing our Employee Benefits operations performance, relationships and revenue. Improving efficiencies, increasing engagement, eliminating barriers between branches, departments and functions with the creation of cross-functional teamwork. Working in collaborations with the National Employee Benefits team with national accounts from within the region

The Vice President, Employee Benefits works collaboratively with the Chief Strategy Officer to design, communicate and follow up on Employee Benefit Sales and Cross Sell initiatives. Ensures that with active mentorship, Employee Benefits Managers are working towards their personal goals and objectives and provides progressive opportunities that increase Organizational Capability. Ensures there is continual focus on developmental practices that attract and retain employees and strives for excellence in the quality of work and service provided by the Employee Benefits team.

The Vice President, Employee Benefits builds positive, results oriented relationships across departments, with the sales team, with clients and with carrier markets. Has advanced product knowledge, solid insurance industry relationships, and a sound understanding of the various products available by each insurer and is able to provide objective product analysis and comparisons with competing products and rates.

  • Full-time, permanent career in one of Canada’s fastest growing Employee Benefits firm, starting as soon as possible. This position can be based out of Manitoba, Saskatchewan or Alberta.
  • The position requires full time in office presence and visibility throughout the region
  • A position that reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Strategy Officer, providing support and working in collaboration with the Sales and Operations Teams.

Key accountabilities include, but aren't limited to:

  • Lead and build the Employee Benefits team to ensure we attract, hire and retain top talent for Branch Operations that meet client needs and allow for profitability.
  • Lead client retention initiatives and the understand the reasons for losses and addressing them.
  • Continuing to build the Employee Benefits operations structure to support sales in all locations
  • Acts as liaison between other regional HUB EB Leaders and National HUB EB Leadership Group
  • Monitor and improve branch performance to ensure client growth, revenue and profitability, efficiency, client satisfaction and employee satisfaction.
  • Communicate regularly with employees, in meetings and individually. Apply good listening and problem-solving skills for employee complaints and concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with the Chief Strategy Officer to identify initiatives and opportunities, identifying the appropriate stream to deliver the results. Assist in setting up sales and retention goals and training in the Branches.
  • Deploy, train and monitor Branch goals and objectives throughout the performance year to ensure results are being delivered as planned
  • Manages existing clients and pursues new opportunities

What you will bring to the role:

  • Ideally, 10 years of progressive industry and people management experience is required
  • Life Insurance License, or path to attaining license, is required
  • Successfully completed post-secondary education is desired
  • Previous experience managing across organizational boundaries is required
  • Advanced insurance knowledge in Employee Benefits processes and procedures
  • Advanced insurance knowledge in Employee Benefits underwriting and procedures
  • Professional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills are required for this position, ability to communicate professionally and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Strong, proven analytical problem solving with the ability to make decisions and move forward with the work at hand
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking capabilities required
  • Results-oriented, with the ability of using time and resources effectively.
  • Advanced practical knowledge and proficient computer skills with Broker Management Software System
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products is required
  • Superior relationship building with a client orientation and dedication to providing exemplary client service
  • Strong organization and time management skills with demonstrated attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple, competing projects that are time sensitive
