Job summary

CRMR's Emerald Lake Lodge is seeking an Assistant Utilities Manager to support the Utilities Manager in overseeing and optimizing our complex utility systems, ensuring reliable operations in a pristine alpine setting.

You will lead a dedicated team, maintain safety and compliance, manage power, water and wastewater systems, and drive efficiency and environmental stewardship while keeping guest comfort at the forefront.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in utility operations, preferably in a remote or hospitality setting.
• Strong technical knowledge of power generation systems, water and wastewater treatment, and general mechanical/electrical systems.
• Certifications in Small Wastewater System Operation and Small Water System Operation (or willingness to obtain).
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate various types of vehicles and equipment.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to system maintenance.
• Proficiency in computer systems, including Microsoft Office and specialized utility management software.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment, often extending beyond regular working hours.
• Physical capability to perform tasks in various conditions, including confined spaces and at heights.
• Commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable operations.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with staff, guests, and external contractors.
• Ability to step into the Utilities Manager role when required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and maintain ELL's comprehensive utility systems, including power generation and distribution, water treatment, wastewater treatment, fire systems, and more.
• Lead and mentor the utilities team, support recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and scheduling for 24/7 coverage.
• Develop and refine preventative maintenance plans, manage inventory, and collaborate with other departments.
• Ensure safety compliance, conduct audits, and maintain certifications for system operations.
• Assist with emergency response planning, drills, and on-call support for emergencies.
• Manage department budgets, payroll support, SOPs, and detailed performance reports.
• Coordinate with vendors/contractors and strive for cost-saving and efficiency improvements.
• Maintain thorough records and regulatory compliance documents.
