Bay Ferries Limited isseeking a highly motivated and organized Assistant Terminal Manager tosupport terminal operations in Saint John, New Brunswick.
This leadership role is ideal for an experienced operationsprofessional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate aboutsafety, customer service, team leadership, and operational excellence. Thesuccessful candidate will assist in overseeing daily terminal operations whileensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery for passengers,commercial traffic, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
- Promote and maintain astrong safety culture across all terminal operations.
- Support implementationand continuous improvement of the Terminal Safety Management System.
- Ensure compliance withsafety, security, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a just-cause safety culture.
Operational Management
- Assist in managing dailyterminal operations to ensure efficient and safe vessel loading andunloading.
- Support trafficmanagement involving commercial vehicles, passenger vehicles, RVs, andreservations.
- Monitor passengermanifests and loading procedures.
- Assist with shipping andreceiving activities.
Financial & Administrative Oversight
- Support management ofterminal budgets and operating expenses.
- Assist with revenueprotection, cash handling, and accounting controls.
- Monitor operationalperformance and identify improvement opportunities.
Staff Leadership
- Assist with recruitment,onboarding, and employee training.
- Coordinate employeescheduling, shift rotations, overtime, vacations, and call-ins.
- Support performancemanagement and employee development.
- Assist with labourrelations and grievance handling involving unionized and non-unionizedstaff.
Customer Experience & Contractor Management
- Analyze customerfeedback and identify service improvements.
- Help manage contractorrelationships and service standards.
- Ensure contractorsmaintain high standards of customer service and cleanliness.
Regulatory & Environmental Oversight
- Liaise with regulatoryagencies as required.
- Assist in environmentalcompliance, including waste management and potable water sampling.
Qualifications
- Strong leadership,communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience inoperations, terminal, logistics, transportation, or facility management.
- Ability to managemultiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of operationalsafety procedures and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to read andinterpret accounting and financial reports.
- Strong decision-makingskills and ability to work independently.
Working Conditions
- Combination of officeand field work.
- Regular visits toterminals, docks, vessels, and customer locations.
- Flexible schedulerequired, including evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight travel.
