Why this role is important?

Summary:

Assist with the technical functions of dispensing prescriptions, support the delivery of pharmacy services, and participate in the maintenance and operations of the pharmacy according to Pharmacy Standards of Practice. Provide superior, timely, and pleasant service to customers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Customer Service
2. Greet customers promptly and gather prescription information according to Standards
3. Perform duties based on assigned Role on the Role Assignment Schedule
4. Refer clinical inquiries to the pharmacist
5. Set realistic customer expectations regarding wait times
6. Locate and cash out prescriptions and ancillary items
7. Refer customers requiring counseling to the Pharmacist
8. Maintain and control the cash register in the dispensary
9. Adhere to confidentiality and privacy requirements

Administration:

1. Handle new and repeat prescription orders following Standard Operating Procedures
2. Prepare and submit orders, excluding controlled drugs and narcotics
3. Manage third-party billing, online and manual Third-Party Accounts
4. Answer calls and refer to a pharmacist when necessary
5. Manage incoming faxes according to Pharmacy Standards of Practice
6. Assist pharmacist in coordinating call backs
7. File completed documentation accurately as per Pharmacy Standards of Practice

Prescription Workflow:

1. Assist in prescription preparation adhering to company standards and professional services
2. Enter data for new prescriptions and manage refill requests
3. Select medications to fill prescriptions following Pharmacy Standards of Practice
4. Count, measure, package, and label prescriptions efficiently as per Pharmacy Standards
5. Maintain accurate data within Pharmacy systems

Skills & Qualifications:

• High School Diploma
• Pharmacy Assistant credited course preferred
• Previous pharmacy experience preferred
• Effective organizational skills and ability to multitask
• Problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail
