Job summary

Fueling Brains Academies is seeking an Assistant Teacher to join the Senior Preschool team at West 85th in Calgary, Alberta. You will work closely with the teaching team to support planned learning experiences and daily routines in a safe, welcoming environment for preschool children.

You will observe and document children’s progress, help build independence and positive relationships, and participate in indoor and outdoor activities throughout the day.

Qualifications

• Alberta ECE certification is required.
• Experience with preschool-aged children is preferred.
• Understanding of early childhood development and age-appropriate learning.

OVERVIEW:

You know how much difference a supportive educator can make. At Fueling Brains Academies, you’ll help preschoolers build confidence, independence and the skills they’ll carry into kindergarten while working alongside a collaborative teaching team.

We’re looking for an Assistant Teacher to join our Senior Preschool team at West 85th. You’ll work closely with the teaching team to create a safe, welcoming and engaging environment where children can learn, explore and grow.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Support the teaching team with planned learning experiences, classroom activities and daily routines.
• Engage children in purposeful play, creative experiences, movement, circle time and small-group activities.
• Help children build independence, confidence, communication, self-regulation and positive relationships with others.
• Provide active supervision and help children move safely and smoothly through daily routines and transitions.
• Observe children’s learning and development and share relevant observations with the teaching team.
• Prepare materials and help keep the classroom safe, organized, welcoming and ready for learning.
• Provide calm, responsive support during meals, dressing, toileting and other daily routines as needed.
• Work collaboratively with fellow educators and campus leadership and build positive relationships with families.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

• Alberta Early Childhood Educator certification.
• Experience working with preschool-aged children in an early learning environment is preferred.
• An understanding of early childhood development and age-appropriate learning.
• A warm, patient and responsive approach to working with children.
• The ability to follow established learning plans, routines and safety procedures while taking initiative when support is needed.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, families and fellow educators.

A vulnerable sector check and Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR are required for the role. You’ll also need to be comfortable actively participating in indoor and outdoor activities with children throughout the day.
