Job summary

Fueling Brains Academies in Calgary is seeking an Assistant Teacher for our Junior Preschool team, supporting children roughly 19 months to 3 years old. You will work with a consistent group across structured, creative, and movement activities to foster confidence, independence and early self-regulation skills.

You will partner with Lead Teachers and families to support each child’s development, provide warm care, and help with daily routines such as diapering, meals, nap time and outdoor play.

Qualifications

• Experience with toddlers or preschool-aged children is preferred.
• Warm, patient, and responsive approach to working with young children.
• Understanding of early childhood development and age-appropriate learning.
• Comfort with diapering, toileting, meals, rest routines and other daily care needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork with families and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Support the Lead Teacher with engaging activities, purposeful play and daily classroom routines.
• Stay with and support your group of children as they move between learning environments throughout the day.
• Provide warm, responsive care and help children navigate emotions, transitions and positive interactions with others.
• Support daily routines including diapering and toileting, meals, handwashing, dressing, nap/rest time and outdoor play.
• Encourage children to build independence and age-appropriate self-help skills.
• Help maintain a safe, welcoming and engaging environment where every child can participate and grow.
• Work closely with Lead Teachers, fellow educators and families to support each child’s development.

OVERVIEW:

The early years are full of big milestones. At Fueling Brains Academies, you’ll help young children build confidence, independence and strong relationships as they learn through play, movement and everyday experiences.

We’re looking for an Assistant Teacher to join our Junior Preschool team at West 85th, supporting children approximately 19 months to 3 years old.

You’ll stay with a consistent group of children as they move throughout the day between our structured learning, creative learning and movement environments. This consistency helps children feel secure while developing independence, communication and early self-regulation skills.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Support the Lead Teacher with engaging activities, purposeful play and daily classroom routines.
• Stay with and support your group of children as they move between learning environments throughout the day.
• Provide warm, responsive care and help children navigate emotions, transitions and positive interactions with others.
• Support everyday routines including diapering and toileting, meals, handwashing, dressing, nap/rest time and outdoor play.
• Encourage children to build independence and age-appropriate self-help skills.
• Help maintain a safe, welcoming and engaging environment where every child can participate and grow.
• Work closely with Lead Teachers, fellow educators and families to support each child’s development.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

• Alberta Early Childhood Educator certification (ECE Level 2 or 3 Preferred).
• Experience working with toddlers or preschool-aged children is preferred.
• A warm, patient and responsive approach to working with young children.
• An understanding of early childhood development and age-appropriate learning.
• Comfort supporting children with diapering, toileting, meals, rest routines and other daily care needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children and families.

A vulnerable sector check and Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR are required for the role. You’ll also need to be comfortable actively participating in indoor and outdoor activities and meeting the physical demands of working with children approximately 19 months to 3 years old.
