About the Role:

A leading Canadian public accounting firm is seeking an Assistant Manager to join its growing Tax team. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Senior Associates in Canadian tax who are ready to take on a leadership role within a dynamic and collaborative practice. The firm offers a hybrid work model based in Toronto and a supportive environment focused on professional growth and client success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead tax compliance engagements for a diverse portfolio of corporate and personal clients.
  • Review and guide the preparation of complex tax filings, including corporate, personal, and cross-border returns.
  • Conduct technical research and provide strategic tax planning advice aligned with clients' business goals.
  • Collaborate closely with Partners and Senior Managers to ensure high-quality, timely client service.
  • Identify tax risks and planning opportunities; support resolution of complex tax matters.
  • Mentor and coach junior staff, providing feedback and development support.
  • Support business development initiatives by identifying areas for added client value.
  • Contribute to ongoing internal process improvements and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of progressive experience in Canadian tax at a public accounting firm.
  • Enrolled in or completed the CPA In-Depth Tax Program (Year 3 preferred) or Master’s in Taxation (MTax).
  • Strong technical knowledge of Canadian tax legislation and the Income Tax Act.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word in particular).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and client relationships.
  • Experience mentoring junior team members.
  • Additional language skills are an asset.
