Qualifications

• 4–5 years of experience on multi-family residential projects.
• Experience acting as or with an Assistant Superintendent/lead-hand.
• Proficient in reviewing structural drawings, blueprints and construction docs.
• Red Seal Carpentry ticket or construction education is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent on site to ensure drawings and specs are followed.
• Administer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, site instructions and change notices.
• Identify design deficiencies or schedule issues and work with the PM to resolve them.
• Monitor subcontractor safety and scope performance on site.
• Ensure sufficient labour resources to meet safety, schedule and quality targets.
• Maintain daily field reports, safety inspections and construction documentation.
• Ensure contractors comply with company safety policies.

Job description

We are looking for an Assistant Superintendent in Calgary to support the Superintendent and project team in coordinating site activities and ensuring safe, efficient delivery of work by subcontractors and the field team. In this role, you will help plan schedules, determine labour and material needs, and ensure the team has the tools and resources required to succeed, while championing safety alongside the CSO and safety team. Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent in managing work on site to ensure the compliance of construction drawings and specifications;
• Support with administering contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, site instructions and change notices to ensure scopes, terms and conditions are properly executed;
• Identify and advise of design deficiencies, schedule interruptions or difficulties, and other project issues, working collaboratively with Project Manager to resolve issues;
• Monitor and evaluate subcontractor performance with regards to safety and scope of work;
• Ensure sufficient labour resources are provided to achieve safety, schedule and quality objectives;
• Maintain daily field reports, safety inspections, schedule updates and other construction documentation;
• Ensure all employees, subcontractors and contractors are adhering to the company safety policies.

Skills and Experience

• At least four to five (4-5) years of experience working on multi-family residential projects, ideally as an Assistant Super or lead-hand;

• A background as a carpenter, framer or similar is an asset;
• Solid history of seeing a construction project from preconstruction to project completion;

• Proficiency in reviewing structural drawings, blueprints and construction documents;
• Strong ability and proven experience to work effectively with a site crew of various sizes;
• Red Seal Carpentry ticket or construction related education will be considered an asset.
