From our early days building infrastructure and developing communities, to our more recent work in the heavy civil and mining, residential, and aviation sectors, we have always been driven by our commitment to safety, quality, integrity, sustainability, and success.

Ledcor is hiring an Assistant Superintendent who will be responsible for civil works, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. You will have proven ability to coordinate field operations, manage subcontractors, maintain schedule and productivity targets, and champion a culture of safety and quality.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee civil construction activities including earthworks, grading, drainage, storm, sanitary, and watermain installations.

  • Support the execution and coordination of structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical scopes throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Lead daily foreman coordination meetings to align crews, subcontractors, logistics, and work sequencing.

  • Monitor daily productivity, installed quantities, labour, equipment utilization, and progress against schedule.

  • Develop and maintain three-week look-ahead schedules while proactively identifying and resolving workflow constraints.

  • Coordinate site logistics, access, deliveries, and staging activities to maintain productivity and minimize disruptions.

  • Ensure all construction activities are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, schedules, and methodologies.

  • Promote Ledcor’s safety culture and ensure compliance with all corporate, project-specific, and regulatory safety requirements.

  • Lead daily safety meetings and support the preparation and implementation of FLHAs, JHAs, Work Plans, and Safe Work Procedures.

  • Monitor subcontractor performance and compliance with quality, safety, schedule, and contractual requirements.

  • Support the implementation of Quality Programs, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and project documentation requirements.

  • Maintain accurate records including daily reports, site photos, quantity tracking, field changes, and productivity metrics to support forecasting, cost control, and change management.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with project teams, clients, consultants, suppliers, and other key stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • 5–10+ years of construction experience with civil infrastructure projects.

  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience in a Field Coordinator, Assistant Superintendent, or Superintendent role.

  • Previous experience on a transit or major infrastructure project is strongly preferred.

  • Strong experience in wet utilities (storm, sanitary, watermain), drainage (culverts), and earthworks (cut and fill).

  • Experience with both open cut and trenchless utility installation methods.

  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and manage complex site activities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and project documentation.

  • Experience with look-ahead planning, productivity tracking, quantity reporting, and schedule management.

  • Working knowledge of health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems and best practices.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with scheduling and construction management software.

Work Conditions:

  • Full-time site based in Whitby, Ontario.
