  • Assist in day-to-day site management for a complex transit station project.
  • Coordinate civil construction activities including earthworks, drainage, and utilities.
  • Support coordination of structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical scopes.
  • Lead daily foreman coordination meetings and align crews, subcontractors and logistics.
  • Monitor productivity, quantities, labour, and progress against schedule.
  • Develop and maintain look-ahead schedules and resolve workflow constraints.
  • Coordinate site logistics, deliveries and staging to minimize disruptions.
  • Ensure work aligns with drawings, specs, and approved methodologies.
  • Promote Ledcor safety culture and ensure compliance with safety requirements.
  • Lead safety meetings and support development of JHAs, SWPs, and work plans.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance against quality, safety, and contractual requirements.
  • Support implementation of ITPs and project documentation.
  • Maintain accurate daily records for forecasting, cost control, and changes.
  • Build strong relationships with project teams, clients, and suppliers.

Job description

Ledcor is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to join our team on a major transit project in Markham, Ontario. This is an exciting opportunity for a construction professional with a strong mix of civil infrastructure and building construction experience, ideally gained on a transit station, rail, LRT, subway, or transportation infrastructure project.

The successful candidate will bring 5+ years of construction experience and have a proven ability to coordinate field operations, manage subcontractors, maintain schedule and productivity targets, and champion a culture of safety and quality. This role will support the Superintendent in overseeing all phases of construction, from civil works and site servicing through structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical scopes.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Assist in the day-to-day management of site construction activities for a complex transit station project.
  • Coordinate and oversee civil construction activities including earthworks, grading, drainage, storm, sanitary, and watermain installations.
  • Support the execution and coordination of structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical scopes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead daily foreman coordination meetings to align crews, subcontractors, logistics, and work sequencing.
  • Monitor daily productivity, installed quantities, labour, equipment utilization, and progress against schedule.
  • Develop and maintain three-week look-ahead schedules while proactively identifying and resolving workflow constraints.
  • Coordinate site logistics, access, deliveries, and staging activities to maintain productivity and minimize disruptions.
  • Ensure all construction activities are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, schedules, and methodologies.
  • Promote Ledcor’s safety culture and ensure compliance with all corporate, project‑specific, and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Lead daily safety meetings and support the preparation and implementation of FLHAs, JHAs, Work Plans, and Safe Work Procedures.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and compliance with quality, safety, schedule, and contractual requirements.
  • Support the implementation of Quality Programs, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and project documentation requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records including daily reports, site photos, quantity tracking, field changes, and productivity metrics to support forecasting, cost control, and change management.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with project teams, clients, consultants, suppliers, and other key stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • 5–10+ years of construction experience with a combination of civil infrastructure and building construction projects.
  • Experience in a Field Coordinator, Assistant Superintendent, or Superintendent role.
  • Previous experience on a transit station, rail, LRT, subway, transportation, or major infrastructure project is strongly preferred.
  • Direct transit station construction experience and familiarity with Metrolinx projects and requirements are considered strong assets.
  • Strong understanding of civil construction activities including earthworks, grading, drainage, storm, sanitary, and watermain installations.
  • Experience coordinating concrete, structural, architectural, and building construction scopes.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and manage complex site activities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and project documentation.
  • Experience with look‑ahead planning, productivity tracking, quantity reporting, and schedule management.
  • Working knowledge of health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems and best practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with scheduling and construction management software.
  • Post‑secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working Conditions
  • Site‑based role in Markham, Ontario.
Compensation

$99,000.00 - $132,000.00

This is the expected base pay range for this role. Individual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors including experience, knowledge, skills, education and location.
