Job summary

Dollar Tree Canada in Brooks, Alberta is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help with store operations, customer service and team development. You will support opening and closing procedures, organize merchandise, and lead store associates to maintain a well-run store.

This part-time role requires a high school diploma and retail experience; you’ll lift up to 55 lbs, communicate clearly, and keep the store clean and compliant with company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent physical tasks.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment and maintain customer service excellence.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, records (payroll, scheduling, deposits).
• Maintain clean, well-stocked store and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure compliance.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep store clean, including bathrooms, floors, trash, and neat presentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
