Job summary

Dollarama in Alberta is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in overseeing daily retail operations and achieving sales goals.

You will act as Manager on Duty in the Store Manager’s absence while leading a team, delivering outstanding customer service, and driving merchandising excellence.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years in retail.
• At least two years in a supervisory or management role.
• Open availability including days, evenings and weekends.
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager with daily operations and staff management.
• Oversee merchandising, stocking, and daily shipments.
• Provide exceptional customer service and resolve escalated issues.
• Train, coach, and develop employees.
• Handle cash management and store opening/closing duties.
• Assign tasks and ensure store safety and cleanliness.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
• Ensure adherence to company policies and safety standards.
• Maintain visual merchandising standards.

Daily Tasks (but not limited to)

• Assisting the Store Manager with operations and staff management.
• Helping with merchandising, stocking, and unpacking daily shipments.
• Providing exceptional customer service and resolving escalated issues.
• Training, coaching, and developing employees.
• Performing cash management, store opening and closing duties as needed.
• Assigning tasks to the team and ensuring store safety and cleanliness.
• Conducting regular performance evaluations and providing feedback.
• Ensuring adherence to company policies and safety standards.
• Maintaining visual merchandising standards.
• Responsible for hiring and performance management.

What Do You Need to Succeed?

• Minimum of two (2) years of retail experience.
• At least two (2) years in a supervisory or management role.
• Open availability (day, evening, weekend).
• Strong leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment.
