Traine Construction and Development (Traine) is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Site Superintendent to join our organization! As a key member of our team, you will work under the guidance of the Site Superintendent to manage construction activities on-site, assign work, and ensure project completion. This role involves leading on-site personnel and enforcing safety and work policies.
This position is based at our new project in St. Catharines, Ontario.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing all on-site activities focusing on safety, timeliness, and efficiency.
- Manage site communication flow: RFIs, ASIs, SSIs, ESIs, MSIs, etc.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to meet specifications.
- Liaise with City Officials and build strong relationships.
- Co-chair weekly trade meetings and assist with project meetings.
- Help create and monitor the construction schedule, update lookahead schedules, and oversee trades to maintain productivity.
- Review blueprints and construction documents for conflicts.
- Coordinate and supervise trade partners, suppliers, and vendors.
- Ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and standards through regular site walkthroughs.
- Manage and mentor field staff, ensuring they have necessary tools and instructions.
- Maintain a clean, organized site and enforce safety policies.
- Handle field documentation like logs, photos, safety inspections, and reports.
- Order materials and schedule inspections, including utilities coordination.
- Address project challenges proactively and mediate issues.
- Oversee the project from excavation to handover.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience with wood frame multi-family projects (4-6 stories) on concrete parkade.
- Gold Seal Certification is a strong asset or in progress.
- Red Seal Ticket in Carpentry and First Aid are assets.
- Valid Driver’s License with no restrictions.
- Experience with phased occupancy multi-building projects.
- Ability to evaluate trade partner performance.
- Proficient in reading plans and construction documentation.
- Strong management, planning, and leadership skills.
- Attention to detail and a safety-first approach.
- Proficient with MS Project, Word, Excel, Bluebeam, and Procore.
- Knowledge of construction disciplines, safety, scheduling, and quality control.
- Professional and personable with stakeholders and team members.
- Successful background check required.
Working Conditions
- Availability for 24/7 may be required.
- Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds repeatedly.
- Travel to site and off-site locations required.
- Overtime and weekend work may be necessary.
- Work in a fast-paced environment, indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions.
