Sulzer Pumps in Burnaby, BC, is seeking a full-time Assistant Project Manager to support the Project Manager through the full project life cycle, from order receipt to payment collection. You will coordinate with internal teams and customers to ensure on-time delivery of quality pump solutions.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 2–3+ years in manufacturing project management, with strong communication skills and familiarity with SAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• 2–3+ years of PM experience in manufacturing.
• Experience with pump manufacturing is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Ability to manage timelines and coordinate multiple departments.

Responsibilities

• Managing orders and execution of order changes.
• Documentation submittal to customers.
• Act as client central contact for all aspects of an order.
• Ensure timely communication with customer on order changes and status updates.
• Prepare progress reports and interface with internal and external customers.
• Coordinate with Accounts Receivable on collections.
• Assist PM with monthly forecasting of order closeout margin.
• Assist with hosting customer visits for witness tests and plant tours.
• Assist with process improvement tasks.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About the role

At our Burnaby facility we provide pump related services and products including field engineering support, hydraulic/mechanical design and analysis, pump repairs, performance testing, retrofitted/upgraded pumps, duplicate/replacement pumps, pump packages and spare parts. On site we have 5,600 m^2 covered manufacturing space including a machine shop, repair/assembly area and two pump test sites with power capabilities of up to 15,000 HP with 50/60 hertz speed.

Summary:

Sulzer Pumps is seeking a full-time Assistant Project Manager for our Burnaby, BC facility. Within your role, you will support the Project Manager with successful full cycle completion of assigned projects; from receipt of order, confirmation of shipment, through to receipt of payment in full from the customers. As an integral member of the team, you will ensure customers receive the best service possible, through effective communication, processing of orders, and the coordination of involved departments to deliver quality products, on time, in compliance to customer specifications and company policies and procedures. The Assistant Project Manager will function independently with direction and guidance from the Project Manager.

In this role you will be accountable for, but are not limited to:

• Managing orders and execution of order changes

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• Our Ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or equivalent education and work-related experience in a closely related field
• 2-3+ years of Project Management experience in a manufacturing setting preferred
• Experience with pump manufacturing and direct tendering preferred
• Ability to understand financial aspects to maximize profits is an asset
• Experience with engineered products, quality principles, and related technical knowledge
• Must have high attention to detail and accuracy; ability to work to tight timelines
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to tactfully work with internal and external customers
• Demonstrated computer proficiency; Experience with Microsoft Office Products is required; SAP experience preferred.
