City of Burnaby seeks an experienced Building Projects Coordinator within the Lands & Facilities Department. You will liaise across design and construction teams and support field inspection and reporting to ensure timely project delivery.
The role involves preparing schedules, budgets, and documents, with independent judgment exercised within supervisor standards. A valid BC driver's license is required.
This is administrative and technical work performed in the Civic Projects Division of the Lands & Facilities Department. The work involves project liaison and coordination of design and construction work for a variety of civic buildings and facilities; the preparation of various reports, project specifications, schedules, budgets, documents, and related matters; and field inspection of work performed. The incumbent also assists a supervisor in the management of specific projects. Overall project priorities are established by a supervisor and within those parameters an incumbent exercises considerable independence of judgement and action. Policy matters, complex problems, project status and significant budgetary matters are discussed with a superior who reviews the work in terms of effectiveness of services provided and the attainment of desired results. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include graduation from an Institute of Technology with a Diploma in Building Technology, including or supplemented by courses in project management plus sound related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Thorough knowledge of building costs, materials, methods and practices as related to the work performed. Considerable knowledge of architectural design and construction principles and practices and engineering practices and procedures applicable to the work performed. Considerable knowledge of zoning and related municipal legislation governing the work performed. Ability to act as a liaison and coordinator for specific design and construction projects such as fire stations, animal shelters, stadiums and community centres. Ability to deal effectively and tactfully and maintain cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts. Ability to prepare, maintain, and manage reports, records, correspondence, and various other material related to the work using SAP and PMWeb. A Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.
