Job summary

The University of British Columbia, Vancouver, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Teaching in the Department of Computer Science, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027. Salary will be within the range of $150,000 - $175,000 CAD.

This position focuses on contributing to the delivery and further development of the department’s systems courses, with emphasis on operating systems and computer architecture. Candidates with expertise in related areas are welcome.

Qualifications

• Evidence of ability and commitment to undergraduate teaching; as well as evidence of scholarly and reflective teaching practice.
• Experience with evidence-based teaching methods, managing large courses and teaching assistant teams, and other initiatives that advance the university’s ability to excel in its teaching and learning mandate is desirable.
• All candidates will have a strong commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Delivery and further development of the department’s systems courses (operating systems and computer architecture are preferred).

• Four course sections per year, with two in fall and two in spring; engage in self-directed service and scholarly activity.
