Ontario Tech University in Oshawa seeks a Sessional Lecturer for BUSI 3550U - Systems Analysis and Design, Fall 2026. Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellent teaching contributions with a proven aptitude for teaching at the undergraduate level.
  • A demonstrated high level of prior experience with the systems development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Project management skills including Agile, Design Thinking, Lean Startup and Waterfall methodologies.
  • A high degree of understanding of Business Process Modelling skills using BPMN or UML.

Responsibilities

  • The primary responsibility of the applicant is to (develop and) teach a theoretically, methodologically sophisticated and relevant course at the university level within the parameters of the course description listed above.
  • In a technology-enhanced learning environment utilizing laptop computers and wireless connectivity, the Sessional Lecturer will deliver the course using a technology-enhanced learning approach that includes a variety of inclusive teaching and learning strategies and assessments.
  • The Sessional Lecturer will prepare, deliver and grade all course material and assignments and be available for consultation with students during and following completion of the course session.
  • Priority will be given to an Internal Applicant who has taught any course for the University in three (3) different sessions in the past thirty-six (36) months, provided they meet the requirements for the position as outlined in the job posting.

Qualifications:

Required Skills:
  • A demonstrated high level of prior experience with the systems development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Project management skills including Agile, Design Thinking, Lean Startup and Waterfall methodologies
  • A high degree of understanding of Business Process Modelling skills using BMMN or UML.
Education:
  • A graduate degree with a focus on Business Information Systems OR other/related degree and significant work experience (5 years +) in IT leadership or consulting.
Experience:
  • A demonstrated high level of prior experience with systems analysis and design. Candidates can demonstrate their experience by providing details about their teaching experience in this area; their research in this area; and/or professional work in this field.
  • Proven experience managing large classes and diverse populations
  • Experience coordinating and supervising Teaching Assistants as applicable
  • Preference will be given to those candidates with demonstrated teaching excellence experiences in a commerce program in a post-secondary environment
