Job description

The Department of Molecular Genetics in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto (St. George campus) invites applications for a full-time, tenure stream faculty position in Molecular Biology and Genetics. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2025.

Qualifications and Research Focus

1. Candidates should have a PhD and at least one year of postdoctoral research in Molecular Biology, Genetics, or related fields, with a record of research and teaching excellence.
2. Applicants using eukaryotic, bacterial, or viral model systems are encouraged to apply.
3. The successful candidate will develop an innovative, independent research program addressing fundamental biological questions, aligning with strengths in the department and the Donnelly Centre, including areas like model organism genetics, human genetics, and functional genomics.
4. Evidence of research excellence should include high-impact publications, a compelling research statement, conference presentations, awards, and strong referee endorsements.

Teaching Responsibilities

1. The candidate will participate in undergraduate and graduate teaching at the St. George campus.
2. Evidence of teaching excellence should be demonstrated via a dossier including a teaching statement, sample materials, evaluations, and endorsements.
3. Additional teaching-related activities such as mentorship, workshops, and conference presentations are also valued.
