The Department of Pathobiology at the University of Guelph invites applications for two tenure-track positions in Veterinary Clinical Pathology at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
The candidates should hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent veterinary degree, along with a PhD or equivalent advanced graduate training in veterinary clinical pathology. Board certification or eligibility for certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) or European College of Veterinary Clinical Pathology (ECVCP) is essential. Experience in teaching veterinary clinical pathology is an asset. Preferred qualifications include a demonstrated potential to establish a competitive research program, evidenced by high-quality publications and prior grants, suitable for funding from Canadian and international agencies. The research should be appropriate for mentoring undergraduate, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers.
The Department of Pathobiology at the Ontario Veterinary College is recognized for excellence in mammalian and comparative pathology, infectious diseases, and immunology. The successful candidate will join a team of researchers and educators in clinical and anatomic veterinary pathology, with collaborative projects across the university and globally. The incumbents will teach DVM and graduate students through lectures, discussions, and experiential learning. The clinical pathology faculty and trainees collaborate closely with anatomic pathologists, sharing case discussions in a shared microscope room. Diagnostic work is conducted in partnership with the University of Guelph Animal Health Laboratory (AHL), which includes experienced board-certified clinical pathologists and laboratory technologists.
The department is located in a modern, well-equipped facility with advanced research and diagnostic laboratories, including a flow cytometry suite and hemostasis testing lab. The university also has a large veterinary teaching hospital, oncology center, and initiatives in translational medicine, with access to research stations and a level-2 animal isolation facility.
Salary and rank are negotiable, based on experience and qualifications.
