  1. Position Title: Assistant, Night Operations
  2. Status: Full Time Support
  3. Hours: 35 hours per week - (9:00 PM-5:00 AM, Tuesday - Saturday)
  4. Faculty/Department: Campus Services
  5. Campus/Location: North Campus (with occasional work at the Lakeshore Campus based on operational needs)
  6. Salary: FT Support Payband: C
  7. Salary Range: $24.96 - $29.02
  8. Starting Salary: $24.96

Progression through the payband is in accordance with the increments outlined in the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement based on actual service in the payband.

Within Residence Services, our dedicated team oversees key portfolios: Residence Admissions, Residence Operations, Front Desk & Summer Operations, and Residence Life. Together, we deliver exceptional service and foster a connected, inclusive, and thriving living environment.

About The Assistant, Night Operations Role

Reporting to the Manager, Residence Operations, the Night Operations Assistant supports the overnight operations of the Residence. The role involves working with Front Desk, Housekeeping, Residence Life, and Public Safety to ensure residents and conference guests feel welcome and safe. Responsibilities include attending to facility concerns after hours, such as urgent cleaning, minor repairs, and conference room setup. The incumbent will promote building security, enforce policies, resolve minor maintenance issues, and foster positive relationships with staff and departments.

At the Front Desk, the Assistant maintains up-to-date student and guest information, acts as the main information resource, and directs calls, visitors, and contractors appropriately.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Attending to Facility Concerns: Address lock issues, leaks, burnt-out bulbs, elevator breakdowns, vandalism, damages, conduct inspections, and perform minor repairs.
  • Responding to Residence Policy Violations: Address noise, alcohol, unauthorized guests, and smoking issues, and document incidents.
  • Providing Front Desk Coverage: Support staff breaks, assist during busy periods, and support Residence Assistants.
  • Conducting Walks of Residence Areas: Monitor student behavior, building condition, and security, and respond to urgent situations.
