Job Description: Assistant Manager at A&W

Please note that we do not hire internationally.

The Assistant Manager supports the Manager in achieving A&W Restaurant Objectives in guest service, operating standards, marketing, and financial results. This is accomplished by developing an outstanding restaurant staff team and employing team process skills to generate performance that exceeds guest expectations. The Assistant Manager is responsible for the restaurant during their shift.

Qualifications & Abilities

• Maintain key internal and external relationships with management team members, the A&W Business Manager, guests, suppliers, and regulatory representatives (Health & Safety Board, Fire Department, Labour Board).
• Assist in managing a fast-paced, guest-focused business with an excellent working climate.
• Read financial statements to understand the Operating Margin line.
• Proficiency in selecting, training, and developing team members.
• Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain safety and hygiene standards.

Working Conditions

• Fast-paced environment with diverse personalities.
• Working with hot products, equipment, cleaning chemicals, and sharp objects.
• Potential noise and physical demands such as standing for long periods and lifting heavy boxes.
• Must be mentally alert to ensure safety at all times.

Physical Requirements

• Stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
• Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Maintain good personal hygiene and wear appropriate uniform.

Additional Information

Must hold a valid driver’s license and be eligible to work in Canada. Must be able to commute to the location.
