Qualifications

  • Provide financial insights to management to drive business decisions.
  • Coordinate intercompany transactions with U.S. operations.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.

Job description

Stampede Culinary Partners is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our Finance team in Cambridge, ON! If you're a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys improving processes, leading teams, and driving financial accuracy in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, we'd love to hear from you.

WHAT'S THE SCOPE? Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role is responsible for the overall financial accounting, reporting, internal controls, and accounting operations of the Canadian food manufacturing business. This role provides leadership to the accounting team while partnering closely with operations, supply chain, and senior management to support effective business decision‑making. The Accounting Manager ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, manages the month-end close process, oversees inventory and cost accounting, maintains strong internal controls, and supports budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives.

Financial Reporting & Accounting
  • Lead all accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process and ensure timely preparation of accurate financial statements.
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Analyze financial results and operational performance, investigate variances, and provide recommendations to management.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate intercompany transactions and account reconciliations with U.S. operations.
Manufacturing & Cost Accounting
  • Oversee inventory valuation and cost accounting processes within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Review inventory adjustments, cycle counts, and physical inventory results.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances including labor, yield, overhead absorption, material usage, and production efficiencies.
  • Partner with Operations to develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to plant performance and profitability.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
  • Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts and working capital analysis.
  • Develop financial models and business cases to support operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Deliver monthly financial reporting packages and KPI dashboards to senior leadership.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
Compliance, Controls & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian Accounting Standards, IFRS requirements, taxation regulations, and corporate financial policies.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure reporting accuracy.
  • Prepare and file monthly HST returns and ensure compliance with CRA requirements.
  • Oversee remittances including WSIB, union dues, employee benefit programs, and other statutory obligations.
  • Support external audits, bank audits, and internal audit requirements.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop the Accounting team.
  • Conduct performance reviews and establish development plans for team members.
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, training, succession planning, and cross-training initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Establish departmental goals and performance metrics aligned with organizational objectives.
Strategic Partnership
  • Act as the primary financial liaison between the Canadian operation and U.S. corporate finance team.
  • Participate in strategic planning and business improvement initiatives.
  • Provide proactive financial guidance to operational leaders to improve business performance.
  • Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve financial reporting efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA designation is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience managing accounting or finance teams.
  • Manufacturing or food processing industry experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of: Canadian GAAP, IFRS, Internal controls, Financial reporting, Cost accounting, Inventory accounting, Budgeting and forecasting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and willing to learn Power BI.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, JD Edwards, Oracle, or similar).
  • Food manufacturing experience.

Salary: CA$120,000.00 yearly

Contract: Full-time
