Job summary

CMH Heli-Skiing & Summer Adventures seeks an Assistant Lodge Manager to support the Lodge Manager at a remote BC lodge. You’ll supervise staff, resolve daily issues, and deliver exceptional guest experiences in a two-weeks-on, one-week-off cycle.

The role includes administrative duties, coaching, and acting as host for guests. Accommodation is provided during shifts, with travel logistics supported by CMH. You will contribute to safety, service quality, and team development.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in hospitality, travel and tourism, or equivalent.
  • Food Safe Certificate.
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1, or equivalent.
  • BC Serving-it-Right.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in the hospitality industry, preferred.
  • Previous experience in entry-management, preferred.
  • Experience in Point of Sale, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management team to achieve lodge goals including hospitality and F&B tasks.
  • Communicate with supervisors, office personnel, and CMH area managers.
  • Provide direction, feedback, and coaching to develop staff with the Lodge Manager.
  • Act as main host for guests and point of contact.
  • Support injured guests and follow up on guest feedback.
  • Maintain understanding of lodge hospitality roles and duties.
  • Track bar stock and inventory levels at the lodge.
  • Create and manage staff schedules and time entry using timekeeping software.
  • Support CMH safety policies and WorkSafe BC requirements.
  • Ensure a safe and enjoyable workplace with CMH Area Management.
  • Prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and set actionable plans.

Position Overview

The Assistant Lodge Manager provides direct support to the Lodge Manager in all duties related to the hospitality experience. The Assistant Lodge Manager will serve in the Lodge Manager role whenever the Lodge Manager is on scheduled time off. This position includes a variety of administrative tasks, daily problem solving, supervising a team of staff, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. The Assistant Lodge Manager will be great with people, build meaningful professional relationships, and inspire their team to create life-changing mountain experiences.

The Assistant Lodge Manager has a schedule of two weeks on and one week off and will have the ability to step into a variety of lodge roles, as needed. Accommodation is available while on shift, at no extra cost, for staff joining our team.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with management team to help achieve the overall goals of the lodge including all administrative tasks associated with the hospitality and F&B programs.
  • Communicate with supervisors, office personnel, and area management staff throughout CMH in a cooperative and effective manner.
  • Provide direction, feedback, and ongoing coaching to develop and lead staff alongside the Lodge Manager.
  • Act as a main point of contact and host for guests.
  • Work with area management and Banff Office teams to support injured guests and follow-up on guest feedback.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of each position at the lodge pertaining to hospitality.
  • Regularly assist with tracking lodge bar stock and inventory levels.
  • Create and manage the staff schedule and ensure the successful completion of weekly time entry using timekeeping software.
  • Support CMH policies as it pertains to Occupational Health and Safety requirements, WorkSafe BC, WHMIS, etc.
  • Work with the Area Management team to create a safe and enjoyable workplace for all employees.
  • Manage multiple projects and effectively prioritize tasks, responsibilities, and goals; use goals to guide actions and create detailed action plans.
  • Work with the other managers and leaders of CMH to build a culture that prioritizes safety, the best experience for employees and guests, recognizes our responsibility to communities and the mountain environment in which we are so privileged to operate, and achieves leading financial results.

All employees will support the implementation of CMH health and safety and sustainability initiatives and participate in training and help as required during emergency response situations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in hospitality, travel and tourism, or equivalent work experience.
  • Food Safe Certificate.
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1, or equivalent.
  • BC Serving-it-Right.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in the hospitality industry, preferred.
  • Previous experience in entry-management, preferred.
  • Experience in Point of Sale, preferred.

Additionally, the candidate must have the confidence to interact with all levels of the company, including those in remote locations within a hub-and-spoke model.

Working Conditions
  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position up to 20 pounds on a occasional basis.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a regular basis.
  • This position requires you to work on evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the needs of the business.
  • Employees are required to find their own way to and from the lodge or helicopter staging area, which includes travel on logging roads.
  • Travel to and from the lodge or helicopter staging area will be reimbursed up to a specific amount each way, for a maximum of two roundtrips per month.
  • Travel is required from time-to-time throughout the year for company meetings and workshops.

Compensation

A competitive compensation package will be provided including an attractive base salary based on on skillset and experience, as well as potential opportunities to heli-hike and heli-ski, as available. Further details will be discussed in a personal interview.
