Job summary

District of Summerland is seeking an Assistant Head Lifeguard to join the Aquatic Leadership Team at the Summerland Aquatic & Fitness Centre. This full-time role includes supervising staff, coordinating maintenance, and delivering lifeguarding, swim lessons, and cashiering services.

The ideal candidate has a Pool Operator I certificate, knowledge of pool maintenance, and strong communication skills. The position follows a 40-hour work week with a competitive benefits package.

Assistant Head Lifeguard

The District of Summerland is seeking a skilled individual to be part of our Aquatic Leadership Team at the Summerland Aquatic & Fitness Centre. The full-time Assistant Head Lifeguard acts as a senior shift lifeguard to provide guidance and supervision to other staff to ensure high quality supervision, aquatic programming, and customer service is provided to our patrons. This position is responsible for coordinating and implementing the Summerland Aquatic & Fitness Centre maintenance program as well as providing aquatic staff responsibilities (lifeguarding, swim lessons, aquatic program instruction, cashiering, etc.).

The ideal candidate will be a dependable team player and leader with a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and enjoy a variety of tasks in an ever-changing work environment. If you have a strong understanding of pool operations with a Pool Operators I certificate and are knowledgeable in basic pool mechanical maintenance, pool chemistry, and equipment repair, servicing, and operation along with the required skillset and certifications to lifeguard and instruct, we want you at the District of Summerland! The current working schedule for this position is 40 hours/week on a compressed 4-day work week. September to June shifts are Wednesday to Saturday and will include a combination of daytime and evening shifts. Summer shifts (July and August) are Tuesday to Friday. This is a full-time union position (CUPE 1136), and the current wage is $34.54 per hour along with a competitive benefits package and pension.
