Your responsibilities as Grocery Department Assistant Manager include:

  • Executing the directives of the Grocery Manager regarding work assignment, purchasing and receiving goods, employee scheduling, order and discipline within the department, etc.
  • Replacing the Grocery Manager during their absence and performing their tasks (coordinating the department, scheduling staff, purchasing, promotions, inventory management, profit calculation, data entry, etc.)
  • Responsible for certain departmental purchases from designated suppliers.
  • Receiving company representatives with whom the department deals.
  • Receiving and counting goods intended for sale such as grocery products, dairy, frozen items, and other products sold by the department. Ensuring proper placement in storage, refrigerators, freezers, or other designated areas.
  • Labeling and shelving products for sale according to departmental rules.
  • Updating prices on shelves and products as needed.
  • Rotating stock on shelves and keeping work areas clean.
  • Providing customer service within the department.
  • Ensuring employees and oneself wear required safety equipment.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the department.
  • Keeping various inventories within the grocery department.
  • Promoting sales of products and services offered by the department.
  • Performing any other related tasks as required by immediate supervisor.

Experience:

  • Relevant experience in a grocery department;
  • Management experience is an asset.
