Job summary

Pursuit in Banff is seeking an Assistant Manager to oversee daily restaurant operations and special events, including banquets, weddings, and conferences. You will supervise staff, recruit and train, ensure food safety, manage inventory, scheduling, and payroll, and maintain guest satisfaction.

This full-time, year-round role offers staff accommodation and the chance to lead a dynamic team in a hospitality-focused destination.

Qualifications

• Flexible to work various shifts (early mornings, late evenings, weekends, split shifts).
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Basic computer skills.
• Highly organized with the ability to handle numerous tasks.
• Strong leadership qualities and management skills.
• Degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management or related discipline is a strong asset.
• 2 years in hotel/restaurant industry, including at least 1 year supervisory.
• Working knowledge of MICROS or similar POS system is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Handle daily billing and financial responsibilities; assist scheduling and payroll.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

• The Assistant Manager ensures the smooth running of the day-to-day operations for the restaurant and special events, including banquets.
• Supervise staff and ensure that customer expectations are exceeded at all times.
• Keep the food and beverage areas clean and maintain exemplary food hygiene practices.
• Assist with recruitment, training, and management of staff.
• Assist with inventory management; oversee proper unpacking of weekly orders, ensuring storage locations are neat and tidy at all times and part of the monthly counting ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
• Able to address customer complaints or issues, and resolve matters as expediently as possible.
• Oversee food storage and dining areas, ensuring that the facility remains in compliance with safety regulation and health codes.
• Assist with cocktail creation and menu development. Let your passion shine!
• Lead and execute weddings, conferences and signature events; ensure that no detail is missed and the event is delivered flawlessly.
• Daily billing and financial responsibilities to be completed accurately and efficiently.
• Assist with scheduling & payroll.
• A leader in daily communication on guest feedback, employee performance and notes from the days shift.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Working knowledge of MICROS or similar P.O.S. system is an asset.
• Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits.
