Job summary

The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) in Kuujjuaq, QC invites applications for the role of Assistant Director - Socio-Judicial Services. The role oversees Sapummijiit Centre (CAVAC) and the Inuit Community Reintegration Program, guiding socio-judicial services across Nunavik.

Reporting to the Director, you will lead a team, develop annual objectives, and liaise with governments and partners. Fluency in English and French is required; travel within Nunavik is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in administration or project management.
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience in socio-judicial sector and management.
  • Leadership, organization, and initiative demonstrated.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, communication and analytical skills.
  • English and French oral and written skills required; Inuktitut is an asset.
  • Ability to travel in Nunavik and outside the region; cross-cultural experience valued.

Responsibilities

JOB OPPORTUNITY

The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) is a supra-municipal organization with jurisdiction over the territory of Québec located north of the 55th parallel. The Legal, Socio-Judicial and Municipal Management Department of the KRG is currently seeking to recruit a candidate to work in Kuujjuaq in the capacity of:

Assistant Director - Socio-Judicial Services (Permanent - Full-time)

Reporting to the Director of the Legal, Socio-Judicial and Municipal Management Department, the Assistant Director - Socio-Judicial Services is responsible for assisting the Director in overseeing, planning, and organizing the Sapummijiit Centre (Crime Victims Assistance Centre (CAVAC)) of Nunavik and the Inuit Community Reintegration Program, as well as all socio-judicial-related services and activities of the department.

SPECIFIC DUTIES
  • Plan, organize, and evaluate the activities of the Sapummijiit Centre (Crime Victims Assistance Centre (CAVAC)) of Nunavik and the Inuit Community Reintegration Program;
  • Ensure the quality of the delivery of socio-judicial services in the Nunavik region;
  • Supervise the coordinator of the socio-judicial services and evaluate their performance;
  • Develop annual objectives and draft action plans and reports;
  • Create and implement working tools to encourage best practices in the socio-judicial team;
  • Develop effective and updated communication tools and distribute information at the regional level and to other relevant organizations;
  • Act as a representative and liaise with the governments, various organizations, and partners, and attend meetings and forums on issues related to the socio-judicial services, justice services, and administration of justice in Nunavik;
  • Assist the Director during the meetings of the Council and of the Executive Committee, preparation of budgets, annual objectives, and activity reports;
  • Perform any other duties as requested.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in administration or project management. Relevant work experience in the socio‑judicial sector could exceptionally be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience with correctional services or judicial system or victim support programs, and in employee management;
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational skills, and initiative;
  • Excellent problem‑solving, decision‑making, communication, and analytical skills;
  • Experience in the preparation and management of budgets will be considered as an asset;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and French; knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset;
  • Ability to work under pressure and respect deadlines;
  • Be willing and available to travel in Nunavik and outside the region;
  • Past work experience in a cross‑cultural environment, preferably with native communities, will be considered as an asset;
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite as well as other relevant software.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required.

TÂCHES SPÉCIFIQUES
  • Planifier, organiser et évaluer les activités du Centre Sapummijiit (Centre d’aide aux victimes d’actes criminels (CAVAC)) du Nunavik et du Programme de réintégration communautaire inuit;
  • Assurer la qualité de la prestation des services sociojudiciaires dans la région du Nunavik;
  • Superviser la personne qui coordonne les services sociojudiciaires et évaluer leur rendement;
  • Établir des objectifs annuels et préparer des ébauches de plans d’action et de rapports;
  • Créer et mettre en œuvre des outils de travail pour encourager les pratiques exemplaires au sein de l’équipe sociojudiciaire;
  • Élaborer des outils de communication efficaces et actualisés, et diffuser l’information au niveau régional et auprès d’autres organisations concernées;
  • Agir à titre de représentant et assurer la liaison avec les gouvernements, les divers organismes et partenaires, et participer à des réunions et à des forums sur des questions liées aux services sociojudiciaires, aux services de justice et à l’administration de la justice au Nunavik;
  • Assister le directeur lors des réunions du Conseil et du comité exécutif, de la préparation des budgets, des objectifs annuels et des rapports d’activité;
  • Effectuer toute autre tâche demandée.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Baccalauréat en administration ou en gestion de projets. Une expérience professionnelle pertinente dans le secteur sociojudiciaire peut être exceptionnellement prise en compte en lieu et place d’un baccalauréat;
  • Minimum de trois années d’expérience pertinente dans les services correctionnels, le système judiciaire ou les programmes d’aide aux victimes, ainsi que dans la gestion du personnel;
  • Leadership, compétences organisationnelles et esprit d’initiative avérés;
  • Excellentes compétences pour la résolution de problèmes, les processus décisionnels, la communication et l’analyse;
  • Expérience en préparation et gestion de budgets, un atout;
  • Excellentes compétences en communication orale et écrite, tant en français qu’en anglais, et connaissance de l’inuktitut, un atout;
  • Capacité avérée à travailler sous pression et à respecter les échéances;
  • Disposition et disponibilité pour voyager au Nunavik et à l’extérieur de la région;
  • Expérience de travail antérieure dans un environnement multiculturel, de préférence auprès de collectivités autochtones, un atout;
  • Maîtrise de la suite Microsoft Office et d’autres logiciels pertinents.
  • Prise en charge d’autres responsabilités en fonction des besoins.
