Job summary

Aspira Villa Da Vinci Retirement Living in Vaughan, Canada, seeks an Assistant Director of Wellness to lead standards of practice, coordinate assessments, and develop care plans with the Nursing team.

You will oversee staffing, supervise medications, and foster collaborative resident care partnerships with hospital staff while supporting a culture of dignity and respect for residents.

Qualifications

• Must be in good standing with the College of Nurses in Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN).
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in geriatrics, rehabilitation and/or retirement living.
• Excellent supervisory and leadership abilities.
• Able to work a minimum of 2 evenings per week and staggered shifts including alternate weekends.
• Proficient with EHR systems, MAR, MS Office and communication tools.
• Must pass Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check; legally eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Director of Wellness to promote standards of practice and complete resident reassessments with the Nursing team.
• Develop plans of care, determine care fees and staffing requirements.
• Schedule and adjust staffing to align with occupancy and acuity levels.
• Oversee the Continence Care Program, orders, sizing and service transitions.
• Supervise medication administration, audits, and narcotics safekeeping.
• Manage Wellness Team onboarding and ongoing education.

What you will be doing:

• Collaborating with the Director of Wellness to promote and ensure standards of practice are achieved and evaluated; completing all stable resident Re-assessments in conjunction with Nursing team, in absence of DOW complete Initial assessments, developing service plans and arranging resident/family care conferences as required to ensure all data is valid and up to date.
• Ensuring resident care needs are assessed; developing plan of care and determining corresponding care fees and staffing requirements.
• Collaborating with the Director of Wellness to schedule and adjust staffing levels to ensure consistency with the residence’s occupancy levels, the acuity of the residents and the services being offered.
• Provide oversight and management of the Continence Care Program; completing assessments, orders, sizing, and service transitions.
• Overseeing and supervising the medication administration program including administering of medications, completing audits, monitor control, training of new team members and safekeeping of drugs and narcotics.
• Coverage for Dow Absences
• Manage Wellness Team Onboarding and education requirements
• Developing professional and collaborative relationships with hospital staff, participate in marketing outreach such as presentations on wellness services and aging in place philosophy
• Performing other duties as assigned

What you need to know:

• In good standing with current registration with the College of Nurses in Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in geriatrics, rehabilitation and/or retirement living.
• Must possess excellent supervisory and leadership abilities.
• Must be able to work a minimum of 2 evenings shift per week
• Must be able to work staggered shifts opposite DOW with evening and alternate weekends within routine schedule
• Strong computer skills in Electronic health Record Program, Electronic MAR, Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills required.
• All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check.
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
• You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check
