Job summary

Sienna Senior Living's Aspira Rockland Manor in Ontario seeks an Assistant Director of Wellness. This permanent full‑time role collaborates with the Director of Wellness to lead nursing care, assessments, care plans and staff scheduling to ensure consistent resident wellness and service quality.

The ideal candidate is an Ontario-registered Practical Nurse with 2+ years in geriatrics or retirement living, capable of supervising a team, and bilingual English/French preferred.

Qualifications

  • Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in Ontario.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in geriatrics, rehabilitation or retirement living.
  • Bilingual English and French preferred.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director of Wellness to promote standards of practice and complete assessments.
  • Develop care plans, determine care needs and staffing requirements.
  • Schedule staffing to align with occupancy and acuity.
  • Oversee Continence Care Program and medication administration oversight.
  • Onboard and educate Wellness Team; participate in hospital outreach.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

What you will be doing:

You will be a welcomed member of the Aspira Management team and impact in the following ways:

  • Collaborating with the Director of Wellness to promote and ensure standards of practice are achieved and evaluated; completing all stable resident Re-assessments in conjunction with Nursing team, in absence of DOW complete Initial assessments, developing service plans and arranging resident/family care conferences as required to ensure all data is valid and up to date.
  • Ensuring resident care needs are assessed; developing plan of care and determining corresponding care fees and staffing requirements.
  • Collaborating with the Director of Wellness to schedule and adjust staffing levels to ensure consistency with the residence’s occupancy levels, the acuity of the residents and the services being offered.
  • Provide oversight and management of the Continence Care Program; completing assessments, orders, sizing, and service transitions.
  • Overseeing and supervising the medication administration program including administering of medications, completing audits, monitor control, training of new team members and safekeeping of drugs and narcotics.
  • Coverage for Dow Absences
  • Manage Wellness Team Onboarding and education requirements
  • Developing professional and collaborative relationships with hospital staff, participate in marketing outreach such as presentations on wellness services and aging in place philosophy
  • Performing other duties as assigned

What you need to know:

  • In good standing with current registration with the College of Nurses in Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in geriatrics, rehabilitation and/or retirement living.
  • Bilingual proficiency English and French preferred
  • Must possess excellent supervisory and leadership abilities.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 2 evenings shift per week
  • Must be able to work staggered shifts opposite DOW with evening and alternate weekends within routine schedule
  • Strong computer skills in Electronic health Record Program, Electronic MAR, Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills required.
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit
  • You must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check
