Job summary

AgeCare Woodhaven in Markham, ON is seeking an Assistant Director of Care to guide resident care in collaboration with the senior management team. You will help plan, organize, direct and coordinate care activities in line with policy, onboarding and annual staff education, safety programs and infection-control initiatives.

The role requires strong geriatric nursing knowledge, registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, and experience in care administration.

Qualifications

• A sound knowledge and background in geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing including activation, nursing, and personnel administration.
• Knowledge of The Nursing Homes Act and Regulations, Act directives and related statutes influencing residence operations.
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Post graduate studies in nursing, nursing administration and geriatrics is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior management to plan, organize, direct and coordinate resident care activities.
• Ensure documentation is in place per policy and regulatory requirements (RAI-MDS, audits).
• Audit resident care plans quarterly and ensure plans are updated and followed.
• Respond to resident or family concerns within authority and escalate to the Director of Care as needed.
