Job summary

Jobtailor in Canada seeks a senior actuarial leader to oversee pricing, support product development, and manage reinsurance agreements. You will partner with business stakeholders to drive profitability and strategic initiatives while ensuring the integrity of actuarial models.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science and F.I.C.A. designation required.
  • Experience supervising teams and prioritizing initiatives.
  • Strong English communication for daily cross-border collaboration.
  • Solid knowledge of U.S. life insurance market or ability to learn quickly.

Job description

  • Oversee pricing, support product development, and lead the management of reinsurance agreements
  • Work closely with business partners and provide tailored, value-added support
  • Support informed decision-making that promotes sustainable long-term profitability for the organization
  • Ensure the robustness and integrity of actuarial models
  • Contribute to acquisition projects and strategic initiatives within the business unit
  • Act as a business partner and advisor in evaluation and decision-making
  • Drive the implementation of business initiatives within our team
  • Ensure delivery of expected results and the creation of value for the organization
  • Provide engaging leadership across multidisciplinary projects
  • Build and develop a high-performing team
  • Mentor and mobilize team members to meet the business needs of the unit
  • Ensure the team's practices are aligned and consistent with best practices established by the CFO sector team
  • Promote skills development and talent progression
Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise teams and to plan, organize, and set priorities
  • Relevant experience in individual life insurance and a solid understanding of the U.S. market (or the ability to acquire this knowledge quickly)
  • Excellent ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships in a collaborative, multi-stakeholder environment
  • Proactive and initiative-taking in identifying and understanding business issues, with a desire to make an impact
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science and the F.I.C.A. designation
  • Advanced proficiency in English, as the role involves daily collaboration with English-speaking business partners
