Job summary

Independent Grocers Alliance in Canada is seeking an assistant department manager. You will support day-to-day operations and learn the ropes of department leadership.

Ideal candidates have 2 years in retail or customer service, a high school diploma, and enthusiasm for training. We offer in-store training and opportunities to grow within the family.

This role features day/evening shifts and 40 hours per week with potential for advancement across departments.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in retail or customer service.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Willing to participate in training courses.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day management activities within your department in collaboration with the department manager.
• Provide team members with feedback for their development and to achieve objectives.
• Collaborate with production and customer service clerks; ensure exceptional customer service.
• Manage inventories, price lists, marketing and productivity according to standards to ensure business readiness.

What might a typical day look like?
As an assistant department manager, you will have to :

• perform day-to-day management activities within your department in collaboration with the department manager;
• provide team members with the feedback necessary for their professional development and the achievement of established objectives;
• collaborate with the production and customer service clerks; - Ensure the implementation of exceptional customer service
• in collaboration with the manager, ensure the management of inventories, price lists, marketing and salary productivity according to established standards in order to ensure business readiness;
