Ocean Choice International is seeking an Assistant Corporate Controller to join the corporate finance team in St. John’s, NL. The role reports to the Corporate Controller and focuses on monthly consolidation, financial reporting, and analysis across the organization.

The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. CPA status is a plus and the company offers a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Degree in Commerce or Business with a major in Accounting.
• Relevant accounting experience in a manufacturing or similarly complex environment.
• CPA designation would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements and HST filings.
• Prepare monthly financial analysis for internal freight divisions.
• Perform intercompany account reconciliations in a multi-company environment.
• Maintain and update consolidation and business unit files for senior management.
• Assist with internal controls to comply with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Provide analytical support for accounts payable and purchasing processes.
• Assist Treasury with financing activities and related analysis.
• Support annual external audit preparation and consolidation budgeting.

Jump Recruitment, on behalf of our client, Ocean Choice International (Ocean Choice), is seeking an Assistant Corporate Controller to join their team in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Opportunity

Ocean Choice is looking for a highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented accounting professional to join its corporate finance team. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, the Assistant Corporate Controller will play an important role in preparing monthly consolidated financial statements, financial reporting, and analysis across the organization.

This is an opportunity to contribute to a diverse and established company while gaining exposure to a broad range of corporate accounting and financial operations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements and HST filings.
• Prepare monthly financial analysis for the internal freight division.
• Perform intercompany account reconciliations in a multi-company environment with Canadian and foreign operations.
• Maintain and update various consolidation and business unit files for senior management.
• Assist with monitoring and implementing internal financial controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical and analytical support for accounts payable and purchasing processes.
• Assist the Treasury team with financing activities and related analysis.
• Assist the Accounting team in preparing files and supporting documentation for the annual external audit.
• Assist with the preparation of the annual consolidated budget.
• Prepare ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Commerce or Business, with a major in Accounting.
• Relevant accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing or similarly complex business environment.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Sound judgment and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with different teams.
• CPA designation would be considered an asset.
