Job summary

Chartwell St. Thomas Retirement Community is seeking a part-time Cook's Helper to ensure exceptional preparation and delivery of the resident and guest dining experience using production checks and standardized recipes.

The role involves preparing meals for residents and guests, operating and cleaning equipment, and maintaining high hygiene standards while following safety guidelines and written/verbal instructions.

Qualifications

  • Kitchen experience is preferred.
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Clear communication and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Able to organize workload under time constraints.
  • High standard of hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Current Safe Food Handler's Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare meals for residents and guests with dietary needs.
  • Operate and clean food production equipment and prep areas.
  • Follow food safety standards and health regulations.
  • Wash, clean, and store dishes and equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job description

St. Thomas Retirement Residence, Part Time 28 Hours bi-weekly. Week 1- Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday. Week 2- Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (4 to 8pm)


The Opportunity

We're looking for a Cook's Helper. This role is responsible for ensuring the exceptional preparation and delivery of the resident and guest dining experience using production checks and standardized recipes.


What You'll Do


  • Preparing meals for residents and guests ensuring dietary needs are met

  • Operating and cleaning food production equipment and food preparation areas

  • Complying with all food preparation standards and health and safety requirements in a clean, safe and sanitary manner

  • Washes, cleans and stores dishes, cutlery, fixtures and equipment used for food preparation and service

  • All other duties as assigned


What You'll Bring


  • Experience working in a kitchen is considered an asset

  • Must be able to operate related equipment

  • Ability to lift up to and including 50 pounds is considered an asset

  • Must have read and communicate effectively, and follow written/verbal instructions

  • Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints

  • Must have a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness

  • Current Safe Food Handler's Certification
