Job Description

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food according to the approved monthly menu.
• Assist in meal preparation and serving, including special luncheons.
• Utilize food donations efficiently to produce balanced meals, minimizing waste.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in all kitchen areas.
• Keep the kitchen, pantry, and walk-in fridge organized and clean.
• Follow all safety and hygiene regulations, including Universal Precautions and health standards.
• Operate and understand all kitchen equipment.
• Support the Head Cook with inventory management and food orders.
• Assist with cleaning duties as needed.
• Prepare bag lunches and evening snacks, accommodating dietary needs.
• Prepare for the following day's activities.
• Treat clients with respect and dignity at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

• College diploma or certificate in Food Management/Preparation, or relevant experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Sound judgment and maturity.
• Current First Aid, CPR, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificates.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Flexibility to work shifts including weekdays and weekends in a 24/7 facility.
• Provide a valid Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector screening.
• Support the mission and values of The Salvation Army in Canada and at the Brantford Booth Centre.

Compensation
