Assistant Controller – 14-month contract

14-month contract and play a key role in ensuring our financial reporting is accurate, timely, and aligned with US GAAP and enterprise policies.
As a public company, getting the numbers right isn’t just important—it’s essential. In this role, you'll lead a high-performing accounting team through complex processes and be a key advisor across multiple business areas.
We practice a remote first working model, leveraging in person interactions at our head office, in beautiful Vancouver, BC, for strategic, collaborative and social purposes.
What you’ll do:
- Lead a diverse team who deal with highly specialized and complex areas of accounting such as financial statement close month-end and quarter end process, inventory valuation and costing, vendor funding accounting and operational support
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders, proactively address issues, shape process improvements, advise on the development of new products, services, systems, procedures and controls and act as a key business advisor on many projects and initiatives.
- Ensure the integrity of applicable general ledger accounts and their supporting subledgers and accounting records while overseeing monthly GL reconciliation process, Balance Sheet and P&L variance analysis, journal entries and annual budgets. Liaise with parent company to ensure accounting policy consistency and compliance with US GAAP.
- Be responsible for several SOX processes related to Financial Statement close process, Month-end Reporting, Inventory and Vendor Support. Partner to ensure that controls adequately mitigate risk and have been executed.
- Oversee assigned non-SOX processes to ensure compliance with SOPs and US GAAP.
- Champion technology transformation for the controllership team, including automation.
- Build a best-in-class team, through the ongoing system of recruitment, development, recognition and performance management.
- Contribute to audit and tax processes, liaising with external auditors and internal teams as needed.
What we’re looking for:
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience in a mid to large size organization
- Strong knowledge and application of GAAP
- Leadership experience empowering and inspiring teams
- Experience with automation and workflow tools such as Blue Prism and Alteryx
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office and experience with various BI tools
- Accounting designation (e.g. CPA, CA) and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Annualized base pay range
$130,000.00 - $140,000.00
Starting pay offered will consider skills and experience. Your pay can grow as you build your career with us.
