Elby Professional Recruitment is seeking an Assistant Controller for a growing services company. The role offers hands-on daily accounting, a chance to transition from public to industry, and collaboration with a Controller to drive financial clarity.

You will oversee payroll, tax filings, month-end close, and liaise with auditors and banks. A hybrid work model is available after training, with a casual office environment and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• CPA designation required or near completion (CFE written)
• 3+ years of experience as a Senior Accountant or Manager
• Public accounting background preferred for transition to industry
• Proficiency in Excel (lookups and pivot tables)

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting tasks.
• Serve as primary point of contact for the accounting team.
• Assist with improving manual processes toward automation.
• Provide guidance and support to accounting staff, including backups during vacations.
• Oversee payroll, statutory reporting, and related filings.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Coordinate with external auditors, banking partners, and other third parties.
• Monitor daily banking activities and perform bank reconciliations.
• Manage fixed asset reporting and maintenance.
• Act as liaison with IT service provider and internal users.
• Develop and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Support ad-hoc projects as needed.
