Full job description

My client is a private real estate development investment group of companies in Calgary. They currently own and manage over 25 properties located in Western Canada and the US.

Reporting to the CFO, the Assistant Controller will be responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day accounting, Month and Quarter-end processes, year-end financials, and tax compliance.

Responsibilities

Oversight of day-to-day accounting and month-end processes including :

  • Accounts payable
  • Accounts receivable
  • Cash management and bank reconciliations
  • Monthly and Quarterly tax compliance

Financial reporting and compliance :

  • Quarterly financial statements and associated working papers
  • Annual reporting of operating cost adjustments and budgets to Tenants
  • Year-end financial statements, annual audits, and tax compliance

Requirements

  • CPA designation or near completion - 1-3 years post designation
  • 2-4 years in a senior accounting role
  • QuickBooks experience, Yardi experience an asset
  • CaseWare experience an asset
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office and Excel
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and a results-oriented approach
  • A high degree of professionalism
