Job summary

The City of Saint John is seeking an Assistant Building Inspector to ensure that the construction and occupancy of new and existing buildings meet minimum standards established by building codes and by-laws. The incumbent determines if the work from the permitting process complies with standards and helps applicants achieve compliance.

Eligible candidates have a college diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology, NBSCETT membership, and the plan to obtain NBBOA

Qualifications

• College diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology (or equivalent).
• Membership in NBSCETT is required once eligible.
• Obtain NBBOA Level 3 certification after starting.

Responsibilities

• Ensure construction and occupancy meet minimum standards established by codes and by-laws.
