Job Description / Duties

The Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the University of Toronto is inviting applications for the position of an academic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon specializing in Craniofacial and Soft tissue reconstruction/trauma plastic surgery. The effective date of this appointment is July 1, 2027, but can be flexible depending on the candidate. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and collegial team of plastic and reconstructive surgeons with a major focus on craniofacial surgery and trauma reconstruction. The successful candidate will also participate in medical student, resident, and plastic surgery fellow education at the University of Toronto. The successful candidate will have an academic role of Surgeon Teacher or Investigator.

Qualifications / Required Skills

The successful candidate must have completed specialized fellowship training in craniofacial surgery. Solid expertise in the reconstruction of complex soft tissue defects is also required for this position. Expertise in the management of skin cancers is also an asset. The successful candidate will share in a 1:7 plastic surgery on call pool. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research is required. The candidate’s application should demonstrate excellence in academic activities (research, quality improvement, education). The successful candidate should have a strong research track record, preferably resulting in a M.Sc. or PhD degree. The candidate must be eligible for appointment at the University of Toronto at the academic rank of Assistant or higher and will participate in the educational programs and academic mission of the University of Toronto Division of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery as a full-time member. The candidate must hold an MD and FRCSC (or equivalent specialist designation) qualification in plastic surgery and be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Salary

Annual salary will be between the range of $300,000 - $350,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. This estimate is based on fee for service billings.
